D.A. Brett Smith, GCCAC Summer Junior, and GCSO Cheryl Brasuell visited with our students in grades 7-12 this morning to pass along a very important message regarding Human Trafficking.
The students learned that anyone can be a trafficker, there is not a specific stereotype to watch out for. The trafficker might be a stranger, "friend", or family member. With this knowledge, students were given red flags to watch out for.
The presentation covered online safety strategies, reminding students that nothing is private. The general piece of advice was to not post or share anything that you wouldn't want blasted out on the front page of a newspaper or several apps. They also reminded the students to watch out for their friends, and to tell an adult if they notice something is not quite right. #SeeSomethingSaySomething
A HUGE THANK YOU to D.A. Brett Smith for putting together this team to come and speak to our students. The presentation was eye opening and we know that you have impacted the lives of our students and gave them some tools to make good choices.
Parents, this would be a great topic of conversation to continue at home. Make sure you understand the importance of this topic and to instill in your child the fact that they can come to you for help in any situation.
