Welcome graphic for Mr. Davis

Gunter ISD is excited to announce Eric Davis as the Gunter Elementary School Principal for the 2024-25 school year. Mr. Davis graduated from the University of Texas in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in ALD Generalist Special Education. He received his Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in 2013, and has completed some coursework toward a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership.

Mr. Davis served as a Junior High teacher in Wylie ISD for 3 years. While he was there, he was active in many leadership roles including Special Education Department Chair, Inclusion, and Social Skills. Some specifics from an impressive list of accomplishments during his tenure at Wylie Junior High includes implementation of procedures to ensure federal, state and local compliance, collaborating in PLC’s to develop effective research-based interventions and forming a student-led environmental science club.

Mr. Davis has served as an Assistant Principal in two school districts: Jacksboro ISD and Frisco ISD. Many of his roles in both schools placed him in a leadership position where he coordinated and/or monitored instruction, curriculum resources, PLC coaching, discipline, T-TESS evaluation, master schedule development, 504, TELPAS and STAAR testing, and conflict resolution mediator.

The list of accomplishments Mr. Davis brings with him is impressive. His resume is a testament to the type of leader he is; one who will not only lead, but will work alongside his teachers to truly help his students excel.

Eric is married to Leslie, and they have two sons, Hugo (9) and Freddy (7). Their baby girl, Stevie, is expected to make her appearance in June.

Mr. Davis said, "I am excited to become a part of the Tiger family. It is my great honor and privilege to contribute to the legacy of excellence, tradition, and toughness that Gunter ISD and the Tiger Community have built."

Welcome to Gunter ISD, Mr. Davis and family.
