Gunter ISD is a 3A, PK-12 district located approximately 22 miles north of Frisco, TX and 20 miles southwest of Sherman, TX. Gunter ISD encompasses over 66 square miles on the southern border of Grayson County. Gunter ISD is not an open-enrollment district with approximately 1150 students, PK-12.
The faculty and staff at Gunter ISD are here because they love kids! We are here to provide all students a quality education so they will have the right tools to be successful in the future.

Our Community
Gunter, TX is a city in the southwestern corner of Grayson County. It is part of the Sherman–Denison Metropolitan Area, an hour north of DFW. Gunter was founded in 1902 when the family of John (aka Jot) Gunter deeded 328 acres for the original townsite, near the intersection of State Highway 289 and Farm to Market Road 121.
