Readers Are Champions!

GES students are encouraged to participate in the Readers Are Champions program. Readers are Champions is a reading enrichment program for our Pre-K thru 4th grade students. Students are to read, or be read to, 15 minutes each day. Students or parents are asked to write down the title of the book and the amount of time spent reading. At the end of each nine week grading period, students are to add up the number of minutes they have read and return to their teacher. The goal is for students to read 15 min., five days a week or 75 minutes a week which totals 675 minutes every nine weeks!

At the end of each nine week grading period, reminders for students to return their reading logs will be announced, posted on our website and posted on Facebook. It is the student’s responsibility to return their reading log. Logs must be returned with the number of minutes read totaled. No late logs will be accepted and no logs without the minutes totaled will be accepted.

Students who have met or exceeded the reading goal of 675 minutes will receive a prize on report card day as well as their picture published in the Tiger Times. As we begin a new nine week grading period, students will begin a new reading log and begin accumulating reading minutes all over again!
